Associate Professor of Special Education and Chair of Education Department at the College of Arts and Sciences specializing in Autism and Assistive Technology at Abu Dhabi University. Dr. Fteiha has previously worked as a speech therapist, autism specialist and training coordinator.
Dr. Fteiha's research interests focus on assistive technology in inclusive education, special education, methods of teaching, working with families of children with disabilities (especially children with autism), inclusive practices and early intervention, communication disorders, autism, and special needs. Other research interests of Dr. Fteiha include using technology in education and teaching competencies. One of Dr. Fteiha’s main publications is the Autism Encyclopedia, which is one of the few resources that addresses all aspects related to autism spectrum disorder.
JAMK University of Applied Sciences, Finland
Dr. Eila Burns is an experienced and distinguished teacher educator, currently working as a Senior Lecturer at the School of Professional Teacher Education in JAMK University of Applied Sciences in Finland. In addition to her extensive experience in teacher education and VET education, her expertise areas also include workforce and cultural diversity and online pedagogy.
These are reflected in both her educational and professional achievements. She has a PhD from the University of Jyväskylä, Finland; an MEd from the University of Birmingham, UK, and dual Bachelor Degrees from the Netherlands. Dr. Burns has extensive experience of working in multicultural environments in managerial position (e.g. in Bosnia-Herzegovina), in teaching positions (e.g. as a Special Educational Needs (SEN) teacher in the UK), and in international projects as a project manager and as a pedagogical expert.
Currently, Dr. Burns’ research interests focus on professional identity development by utilizing videos as reflection tools, designing and developing accessible and collaborative online learning environments, along with teacher resilience.
